Shortboards

When you think of a surf board you will generally think of a short board. Shortboards are generally made for intermediate to pro surfers. This is because most short boards are low in volume and have less width allowing the surfer to hit the more critical parts of a wave.

  • The name says it all with this new board design from NSP. With the tail of a short board and the nose of a fish, the Hybrid design is as close to a single board quiver as you will find. With a relaxed, flattened rocker and width in the nose it catches waves easily and maintains speed in even the weakest waves. While the pulled in round tail provides bite and hold through on-rail turns and in hollow conditions. Featuring a subtle single/double concave through the bottom, slight vee in the tail and a medium-boxy rail, it’s a reliable performance oriented design. Manufactured using E2 & Cocomat technology and with a variety of fin set-ups possible, this board screams progression and is one of the strongest and most versatile boards on the market. Available in 4 sizes ranging from 6’0 to 6’6 the Hybrid will suit the intermediate to advanced surfer, and is available in a volume and sizing dimension to suit most weight ranges.

  • Since 2012 we have developed a name for industry leading Epoxy technology, offering performance and durability for the premium recreational surfer. By using optimised techniques widely used in composite technologies the TEC range takes that one step further; creating a board with an incredible strength to weight ratio and torsional flex properties. The Torq Epoxy Composite uses a 3 x 6oz lay-up and carbon fibre tail reinforcement on the deck for maximum strength. The bottom features a carbon torsion strip to control flex and give a responsive spring from turns.

This ground breaking technology has been applied to our user friendly performance shapes used in the Torq PU/Polyester range, to produce a truly high performance range of surfboards with unrivalled durability.

A sled for any waves up to 4ft. Whether you are a Longboarder looking for a step down or a shortboarder looking for some extra volume for the smallest days, this board will make you stoked for even the weakest surf.

The shape is short and wide providing loads of planing area and with around 30% more volume than the Thruster, loads of float too. The rocker is flat for maximum speed and the foil carries out to the rail so you can power through turns without bogging the rail.

With 5 Futures fin boxes, the Summer 5 can be ridden as Quad or Thruster.

  • “The BEAN transfers the performance features of a standard shortboard into a more compact design that’s incredibly fast and responsive in small-to-medium size waves. A generous nose template distributes extra volume into the front half of the board, while added width through the centre creates a platform for immediate drive and start-up acceleration.

Low entry rocker further enhances speed; this is offset by moderate rocker through the tail which helps to maintain manoeuvrability in steeper waves. The BEAN retains the thickness, rail volume and foil of a performance shortboard and combines a shallow single-to-double concave with vee running out through the tail. The result is a board that’s frisk, lively and a ton of fun.

Ride the BEAN 3-to-6 inches shorter than your regular shortboard. The versatility of the BEAN is further enhanced with a tri-quad fin configuration allowing it to be set up as a thruster or a quad”

  • “The Magic Mushroom is a shorter, wider version of a standard shortboard that allows you shorten the arc of your turn, surf tight in the pocket, and generate exceptional speed.

Extra width positioned through the center of the board compensates for the reduction in length, while the rocker profile and bottom contours mimic that of a high performance shortboard. The hip positioned just forward of the fins reduces the tail width to maintain the rail-to-rail sensitivity and response of a much narrower board.

The smaller sizes will have advanced riders exploring above the lip, the bigger sizes will suit heavier riders who want to surf to their full potential. Surf the Mushy approximately 4 inches shorter than your standard shortboard.”

This is a true one board quiver. Up front you have a ‘fish’ like nose – wide through the 12” mark with an easy entry rocker and single concave. From the mid point back, the template narrows in a long curve into a rounded pin tail with a little more rocker under the back foot and a double concave to vee behind the fins.

This combination makes a board that paddles well and catches waves like a fish but also performs in more critical waves. Under your front foot the board is fast and accelerates quickly, with speed to burn. As you transfer your weight to your back foot the combination of the round pin and double concave makes the board sharp and responsive, easily capable of holding a high line in the barrel or deep gouging carves.

With 5 Futures fin boxes, the Hybrid can be ridden as Quad or Thruster.

  • “The volume in the Jalapeño is distributed to encourage paddle power yet stay agile off the tail with a refined rounded pin.

Designed as a versatile all round performance model the Jalapeño has a single to double concave with a slight vee in the tail allowing for speed control and release during high speed rail turns. The Jalapeño is a great option for the one board surfer looking for a model that can be surfed in just about any conditions from 2 to 3 feet beach breaks to over head hollow waves. The extra width through the nose and slightly reduced entry rocker makes the Jalapeño easy to paddle and fast from the take off. The versatile 5 fin setup adds to its diversity and allows surfing in hollow, barreling waves.”

  • The Tomahawk Missile is a hybrid shortboard.

I have added width through the middle and maintained the rocker profile of a high performance board!

This board can be ridden at the same size as the surfers height. The bottom has a slight single concave under the front foot blending into a double around the front fins offering drive from the front foot and continued acceleration when transferring your weight to the back foot during turns.

A subtle hip in front of the front fins decreases the surface area of the tail and allows fast direction changes. This is a user-friendly contemporary high performance surfboard for waist to over head conditions and is available in a wide range of sizes!??

  • The double diamond is a small wave board with range that paddles well, drives over the dead sections, and can also fit into the pocket.

It's slightly curved planshape and diamond tail negates that overly stiff feel that wide straight swallow tails can get. These lines allow the board to be pumped for speed and snapped hard in the pocket. The 5 fin configuration extends on it's versatility.

The double concave in the tail adds the bite that is needed to give grip when the waves get a little bigger.

  • Designed by Luke Short, the Chubby Chedda is a refined version of the original Chubby Checker, a favourite of many including Julian Wilson when he’s free surfing or pushing it in expression sessions.

Luke widened the outline slightly while adding a subtle hip behind the front fins, adding more whip through turns. The concaves are also deeper, creating more ‘get up and go’, and the tail rocker has been accentuated for the perfect blend of speed and responsiveness.

The Chubby Chedda is best described as a ‘performance-hybrid’, and should be ridden at least two inches shorter than your standard high performance short board. And if push comes to shove, the design will hold its own in overhead surf as well.

  • “The Frankensled like the name suggests is a combination of several boards distilled into one pure shape, the result of which is the perfect all rounder.

The slightly fuller outline  combined with a performance rail and sensitive performance rocker means you can ride this board in a mushy shorey or solid barrels.

The Frankensled has good flotation disguised in the profile with the subtle  use of the classic 80′s “beak” nose which gives this board real character.

Another nod  to the classic 80′s board is the distinctive  flyer round tail which reduces the tail area allowing for tighter arcs when on the back foot working perfectly with the speed and release of the single into double concave.

Available in XF construction bigger guys can ride this board at their normal length while the rippers can ride it a couple of inches shorter.”
