Webber Surfboards

The Webber range is all about performance.
The entire range is built using our high end SLX technology, which we released to the surfing public a year or so ago - the feedback has been fantastic.
The 2011 range has had a few small tweaks and we introduce a new super high performance Shortboard shape called - The One - it is a very progressive Shortboard.
Greg is one of the world's truly unique surfboard designers. He doesn't follow trends he sets them. He is not afraid to put his concepts out there on the edge so we all can enjoy surfing just that little bit more.

Greg Webber is a truly innovative and passionate shaper. His ever growing and morphing range is built on over 30 years of experience with experimentation and drawing on the knowledge of other renowned shapers like Terry Bishop, Terry Fitzgerald and Cheyne Horan. Greg's desire to always be improving his own shapes and the surfing in general is inspiring.

Whilst Greg had been experimenting with concaves and rockers since 1986 it wasn't until 1992 when Shane Herring beat Kelly Slater in the Coke Classic finals on a flat rockered, full concaved board that he could really move forward with this concept.

Even though Shapers got to hear about the deep full concave, the general surfing community only saw it as a one liner in a single magazine. It took Shane's request for Greg to shape a board that could do a carve 360 in the tube to "wake everyone up". These boards gained the nickname "banana boards". By creating a board with such a massive rocker it gave other shapers the confidence to make moderate increases. People began to notice the radical curves, increased speed, bite and maneurability they gained.

Other factors that Greg had employed in his boards to influence how the board performs such as deck line and thickness distribution, were missed by most as they were distracted by the rocker and concave. These factors are only just appearing in mainstream production now.

Not satisfied with just board shapes Greg is involved with fin shape experimentation, including curved fins and raked oversized twin fins. He has also designed and patented a circular wave pool. He has shaped boards for many top ranked surfers including Taj Burrow.

Greg has been arguably rated one of the top ten shapers of all time.

our best selling boardThe Afterburner maintains the overall theme that has made this design synonymous with the concept of the all rounder.
The new addition of the nose to tail double concave has only extended the speed of the board without losing an ounce of the flow, freedom and range of use which this board has always had. Greg perfected the deep double after many years of using the deep double concave through the tail of the Afterburner. He has also slightly increased nose and centre width, so that the new Afterburner is a touch more fish-like, making it about halfway between a short board and a true fish.
All boards are glassed with a 2 x 4oz and a 3 /4 patch on the deck and 1 x 4oz bottom with a patch on the fin area. We give the boards the silky smooth Pro finish and they come standard with FCS M5 Glassflex Series fins.

our fates selling boardAs of the 2010 Range release the Fatburner will be known as 'The Pulse'. The same awesome board with a new name...

The new Pulse/ Fatburner has evolved into a slightly more subtle version of it's chunky former self.
While the Afterburner has become more fishy, the new Fatburner has been refined by maintaining, but hiding the much desired volume into a much sexier package. The nose, tail and rails are a touch finer, yet the centre thickness is slightly increased to offset these refinements.
This is a great paddling, easy riding, true fish shape, but with it's super smooth rocker and straighter tail plan shape there is a degree of hold uncommon in most fish shapes. This hold and stability makes for a surprising ride in bigger waves. The big guys allrounder!
The Fatburner is made using our NEW SLX technology

rips in small wavesThe Mini Fish uses very high volume for paddle and glide, but has curves which fit into, and grip onto the wave face. When fish shapes are too flat in rocker, or parallel in plan shape, they cannot be surfed naturally, because they are too straight for the curved parts of the wave. You have to surf the board not the wave.
The Mini Fish has deep double concaves and deep raked flexing twin fins, all of which allows the free curves to be fully utilized. Looseness without grip and drive is weak and twitchy. The Mini Fish is fast and free, but strong when on rail, to allow for surprisingly hard radical turns in small waves.
All boards are glassed with a 2 x 4oz and a 3 /4 length patch on the deck and 1 x 4oz bottom with a patch on the fin area. We give the boards the silky smooth Pro finish and they come standard with Custom made Webber Twin fins.

the great allrounder Drive, Grip, Speed. The One sets the standard for the all-rounder. In Greg's own words "I wanted to provide the feel of my favorite board in a series of current shapes that was easy to understand and performs no matter what the condition."

Well, once again, Greg has done exactly what he set out to do. The One can be ridden 3" to 4" shorter than your standard shortboard because it's ridden a touch wider too, which makes it a really stable platform to push your surfing to next level from.

The One has a full planshape, moderate curves, a super neutral rounded square tail and thruster set up that provides a ton of drive but still breaks loose when you jam it. The lower entry sets the board up for ripping small surf while the full volume adds paddle power.

The One is the perfect answer to a stable, high performance all-rounder.

the small wave beast This model is the shortest and fullest of the small wave boards that have been based on Webber's high performance shortboard. It's stumpy planshape is combined with fuller performance rails, slightly domed deck shape and the same smooth single concave Webber uses on his performance shortboards.
It feels alive and responsive and is a solid go to for summer conditions. The tail area is wide enough to not only give great small wave planing ability, but also to give the freedom to break the fins out in top turns.

As s bonus, Greg has included a tri/quad option that allows you to tune the Gutter Lover to your local conditions.

Available exclusively in super lightweight SLX.

the small wave beast The Sonic is the latest design incorporating a super smooth single concave, low entry and a clean continuous rocker profile. The progressive surfer will instantly see where this board fits into the quiver.
The board has a full template but the nose of the board is pulled in a bit toward a traditional shortboard width to minimize swing weight. The round tail and width are designed to get you up and down the line quickly while floating through flat sections with ease.

This board has a bit more concave than usual at 3/8≈ of depth and has a slightly flatter deck. As a result you get chunks of lift and speed from the deep concave but forgiveness from the stability that comes from the flatter deck.
