Channel Islands Surfboards was created in California by Al and Terry Merrick in 1969. From his birth, Britt  Merrick started shaping alongside his father Al in 1990. He is now the lead shaper and designer for CI and carries on the family tradition of developing high performance board designs collaborating with the world’s greatest surfers. From Tom Curren, to Dane Reynolds, Channel Islands continues to evolve with the highest standard of surfing.

    The M23 comes from the storied M13 bloodlines, a favorite hybrid board Al Merrick made for himself and rode variants of for decades from fun Rincon to maxing Sunset. A true high performance hybrid that caters to the widest possible type and size of surfer - and for the widest range of wave conditions. Not to be confused with the CI Mid, the M23 carries more foam, boasting a fuller rail and sleeker nose outline. It paddles like a champ while still riding more like a shortboard.

    Whether new to surfing or just looking to enjoy a cruisy session, the all-new Torq Chancho is a super user-friendly, stable board that catches waves with ease. The Chancho boasts generous volume for its mid length size, and features low nose rocker for early wave entry. Its subtle vee-bottom contours that run through the fins help it turn effortlessly.

    An offspring of the popular Water Hog model, the Chancho is available in X-Lite construction.

    X-Lite is a torq Epoxy technology developed specifically for performance boards. This is lighter, stronger and more Eco than a traditional PU/Polyester board, now with a 50% thinner Shield Skin for weight reduction. This innovative technology is used exclusively on the X-Lite Channel Islands models; the best selling Pod Mod and all new Chancho.

    The Pod Mod features an Impact Mesh layer on the deck for strength and ding resistance, the Chancho features a Carbon Strip on the deck for longitudinal strength and responsiveness.

    Ultra-relaxed rocker, wide nose, wide squash tail, thin rails, and aggressive single to double concave with vee out the tail.

    All the speed and wave catching ability of a traditional fish, but with the performance benefits of a squash tail.

    Working best in knee to head high surf and is best as your go to groveler.

    Construction: Fusion Dual-Core utilizes the lightest and strongest EPS core on the market. Lively and buoyant centre, while the PU foam inserts on the rails combined with the pop-flex stingers give you a natural feel and response
