Modern

The Modern brand welcomes all surfers and encourages participation and fun. To put it simply, We Love Surfing®. Each model in the Modern range represents a different way to surf, and focuses on novice-to-intermediate surfers wanting an affordable board that’ll not only progress their skills, but maximise their stoke time.

  • Now available in Modern's  Epoxy Soft construction for more fun. With the Modern Highline we wanted to design a board that would give novice-to-intermediate surfers as much assistance as possible.

To become a better surfer and build your confidence, you need to catch as many waves as possible. There aren't any shortcuts but we think we can help shorten the learning curve. So we designed this board to be very buoyant (easy to paddle), stable (easy to get to your feet), and easy to control (smooth turns and go where you want on a wave).

Essentially, Modern built this board to re-define the first steps in surfing so people develop their skills quicker, build confidence and maximise the enjoyment they get from riding waves.

OUTLINE: The outline is the key to the Highline’s amazing stability. We basically took the middle section of a longboard, then tapered the nose to a semi-point and added a nice curved square tail, and by reducing the overall board length you maintain easier side-to-side turning.

ROCKER: Considered flat, the low, fish style rocker means this board paddles very quickly onto waves, and will maintain its speed once you’re up and riding. In this case flat equals flow, and less effort required from the rider to get the board up and going.

CONTOURS: Forward concave helps channel water efficiently across the flatter rocker, particularly when paddling and taking off. The back half of the board has a raised vee with double concave to offset the width, and allow for easier transitions from one rail to the other when performing turns.

FOIL: There’s lots of volume along the full length of the foil, but enough taper through the nose to avoid that ‘boat-like’ feel. The rails are full, but still soft which makes them forgiving as you glide across the face and connect your turns together.

PERFORMANCE: This model can be ridden shorter due to the extra width and higher volumes, which is a big advantage for beginner and intermediate surfers developing their turning skills. For better surfers, gear down into cruise mode before riding the Highline. It has a large sweet spot and offers a very fluid ride, especially in smaller, soft running beach and point waves.

  • Modern Double Wide EpoxySoft Surfboard - White

What happens when you take a longboard and make it shorter, and re-distribute the foam into the outline and thickness? Answer, you get the Modern Double Wide. This high volume mid-length surfboard offers great stability and exceptional paddle power for beginner-to-intermediate surfers.

Having maximum surface area gives this surfboard amazing side-to-side stability so it’s perfect for beginner and intermediate riders as they jump to their feet.

  • Now available in Modern's Epoxy Soft construction for more fun. With loads of surface area up front, and a more tapered outline in the tail, the Modern Love Child is a versatile cruiser that is sure to double your wave count. This surfboard paddles exceptionally well, has plenty of turning ability off the tail, and will adapt as the conditions, and your approach changes.

OUTLINE: The longboard outline up front creates a huge stable zone under the front foot and chest, which is great for catching waves early and riding forward towards the nose. The tapered area pintail keeps the board manoeuvrable and adds control in bigger, steeper waves.

ROCKER: The low rocker is designed to glide effortlessly into waves and maintain down-the-line speed and acceleration. The subtle lift in the tail rocker promotes smooth gliding turns on the face.

CONTOURS: Pronounced vee-double concave starts under the front foot and runs all the way out the back maintaining ample manoeuvrability on an otherwise wide, higher volume board.

FIN: Three different fin configurations offer 3 types of performance. The single and 2 + 1 set-ups deliver a free-flowing ride while promoting longer lines. The quad offers a faster ride with tighter turning capacity.
