  • With the Modern Highline we examined what novice-to-intermediate surfers need in a surfboard to help them get as much actual surfing experience as possible. To become a better surfer, catching waves and increasing your confidence is the key, so we designed this board to be very buoyant (easy to paddle), stable (easy to get to your feet), and easy to control (smooth turns & go where you want on a wave). Essentially, we built this board to re-define the first steps in surfing so people develop their skills quicker and maximise the enjoyment they get from riding waves.

OUTLINE: The outline is the key to the Highline’s amazing stability. We basically took the middle section of a longboard, then tapered the nose to a semi-point and added a nice curved square tail, and by reducing the overall board length you maintain easier side-to-side turning.

ROCKER: Considered flat, the low rocker means this board paddles very quickly onto waves, and will maintain its speed once you’re up and riding. In this case flat equals flow, and less effort required from the rider to get the board up and going.

CONTOURS: Forward concave helps channel water efficiently across the flatter rocker, particularly when paddling and taking off. The back half of the board has a raised vee with double concave to offset the width, and allow for easier transitions from one rail to the other when performing turns.

FOIL: There’s lots of volume along the full length of the foil, but enough taper through the nose to avoid that ‘boat-like’ feel. The rails are full, but still soft which makes them forgiving as you glide across the face and connect your turns together.

PERFORMANCE: This model can be ridden shorter due to the extra width and higher volumes, which is a big advantage for beginner and intermediate surfers developing their turning skills. For better surfers, gear down into cruise mode before riding the Highline. It has a large sweet spot and offers a very fluid ride, especially in smaller, soft running beach and point waves.

The X1 construction offers the strength, flex and performance advantages of epoxy at a very affordable price.

    TechnologyX1 Epoxy Construction

X-1 Epoxy is a simple and effective construction using epoxy resin, woven fiberglass and a lightweight EPS core. The EPS core is cut directly from the shapers files, and once custom shaped, is glassed in the traditional hand layup method with multiple layers of woven fiberglass imported form the USA.

This versatile construction is lightweight, affordable, and is particularly suited to manufacturing SUP's. X-1 Epoxy boards are most popular for their subtle flex and memory recall properties, which translates into a board that feels light and responsive, and offers reliable performance regardless of the conditions.

  • The Tomahawk Missile is a hybrid shortboard.

I have added width through the middle and maintained the rocker profile of a high performance board!

This board can be ridden at the same size as the surfers height. The bottom has a slight single concave under the front foot blending into a double around the front fins offering drive from the front foot and continued acceleration when transferring your weight to the back foot during turns.

A subtle hip in front of the front fins decreases the surface area of the tail and allows fast direction changes. This is a user-friendly contemporary high performance surfboard for waist to over head conditions and is available in a wide range of sizes!??

  • “The Tex is a super stubby little thing for when the waves are super small or you’re just feeling lazy.

The bloated girth and thickness of Tex will get you trimming and turning on any wave that breaks. The contemporary single into double concave gives this craft plenty of spark.  A balanced outline combined with a large round squash tail helps with the control of this little animal.

The Tex should be ordered approximately 6 inches shorter than or three four liters more than your conventional short board.

  • Designed by Luke Short, the Chubby Chedda is a refined version of the original Chubby Checker, a favourite of many including Julian Wilson when he’s free surfing or pushing it in expression sessions.

Luke widened the outline slightly while adding a subtle hip behind the front fins, adding more whip through turns. The concaves are also deeper, creating more ‘get up and go’, and the tail rocker has been accentuated for the perfect blend of speed and responsiveness.

The Chubby Chedda is best described as a ‘performance-hybrid’, and should be ridden at least two inches shorter than your standard high performance short board. And if push comes to shove, the design will hold its own in overhead surf as well.

  • A larger-than-life performance board that bridges the gap between today's modern shortboard and a retro mid-length hybrid. The Spade is the perfect alternative for the surfer who needs a little extra foam, but wants to keep the racy lines and sharp edges of their favorite shortboard to maintain an agressive riding style.

  • NEW FLYER named "SURFBOARD OF THE YEAR" by the Surf Industry Manufacturers Association!

In 1999, Al Merrick designed the Flyer, revolutionizing high performance surfing in small waves. For 2014 Channel Islands has modernized the Flyer into a shorter and wider package. This new plan-shape allows for the same volume in a shorter rail line. We kept the forgiving 2-stage rocker and added spiral vee starting in front of the fins to allow for rail-to-rail quickness. The signature Merrick hip provides a pivot point for tight arcs.
